Anyway. I didn't forget, I know it's technically onto Day 3 now...I was dealing with some other stuff, but I'm here, okay? I'm here!! :)
So here's Day 2: Tree.
I did mention I'm not a photographer, right?
This actually is the best one out of, oh, 15 shots or so. I played with my exposure, flash, ISO, and just about every other setting I could think of and came to the conclusion that I just don't have a very good camera. ;) (It's a Canon Powershot A4000 IS. I don't know what any of that means, but I think it goes something like "Perfectly good camera for your average person who would like to maybe think they might be somewhat good at taking pictures". And I fully acknowledge and mostly accept user error as an explanation.
Anyway, that's my tree! The lovely fake branches...I know, I know. I live in Minnesota, and it's nearly unthinkable that I wouldn't have a real tree, but - confession - I just don't want to deal with it. The needles, the toddler and baby eating the tree (yes, mine would. Judge away.), the sap, having to water it, having to go get it, having to dispose of it...Christmas just shouldn't be that much work. And when my kids are older and begging me and their dad to "get a REAL tree"...well, then I'll think about it. Until then, my 6 foot plastic one is just fine, thankyouverymuch.
It does need some ornaments, though. You can see a few of my pitiful snowflakes, and the red ribbon (on the right) from a little American flag Dave's sister bought for us a couple of years ago, and the big white circle there is a clay ornament I made, with Natalie, a few days before Dave got home from his last deployment.
I debated throwing a string of colored lights around it, but the white lights have been growing on me and I'm still stuck on getting some silver/gold on there, so I think I'll leave it alone. The colorful ones will have their time when my kids are old enough to beg for them, I imagine...
As for the other projects I alluded to several days ago - I'll get to them. Begging another day, please. :) I just signed myself up for a couple more this week, and I'm feeling a bit whelmed - not quite over, but definitely not under, so whelmed it is.
